Koyasan on rainy day with Jann

A view of misty mountains from a train

Okunoin : tombstones of the Date family

The Great Stupa (Daito) : Symbol of the ideals of Shingon Buddhism. 48.5meters tall. The building was destroyed by fire 5 times mostly due to lightning strikes in its history and rebuilt each time.

Koyasan visit on a rainy day turned out to be the perfect weather. This time, I was with Professor from Australia, Jann Williams. She is writing a book about "Elementals of Japan".

We got together in Kyoto at 7:30AM, and took JR train to Osaka during the rush hour.

It is another cultural experience to pass through a big city like Osaka and visit a mountain top sanctuary of Koyasan.
